E. Eugene Yaw(born February 26, 1943) is an American politician fromPennsylvaniacurrently serving as aRepublicanmember of thePennsylvania State Senatefor the23rd districtsince 2009.

Early life and education

Yaw was born to Emerson A. and Harriet Yaw. He graduated fromMontoursville High School[1]and attendedBucknell Universityfrom 1961 to 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968[2]and graduated from theUnited States Army Field Artillery SchoolinFort Sill, Oklahoma.He was honorably discharged asfirst lieutenantafter an overseas tour of duty as an artillery officer.[3]He graduated fromLycoming Collegewith a B.A. in 1970 and received a J.D. degree fromAmerican Universityin 1973.[4]

Career

He served asLycoming Countysolicitor for 17 years and currently serves as aRepublicanmember of thePennsylvania Senatefor the23rd districtsince 2009.[4]

He has been a supporter of legislation related toMarcellus Shaledrilling and the gas industry.[5]

He was a recipient of theNational Federation of Independent BusinessAward for his voting record in support of small businesses in Pennsylvania.[1]
