Europe-Jeunesse
Europe-Jeunesseis a Frenchneo-paganscoutingorganization established in 1973 and influenced byNouvelle Droitevalues.[1][2]
History
[edit]After a meeting held in December 1972 betweenGRECEmembersJean Mabire,Maurice RolletandJean-Claude Vallato discuss the creation of a pagan scouting organization, Europe-Jeunesse organized its first camp inBussy-en-Othein July 1973, under the supervision of Raymond Ferrand, a former member ofEurope-Action.[2][3]Europe-Jeunesse is an attempt at a synthesis between the early French scouting movement ofNicolas Benoit (1875–1914) and the pre-NaziGerman Youth Movement.[2]The group adopted the symbol of the defunctEurope-Actionand theFEN,ahoplitehelmet.[3][2]
Europe-Jeunesse is made up of ten ethno-culturalbans:"Gallia Belgica" forWallonia,"Liguerie" for theNiceregion, "Blood and Gold" aroundNîmes,"Armed-Lions" in thePérigord,"Alpine" aroundLyonandGrenoble,"An Avel Mor" inBrittany,"ComtéToulousain","Île-de-France","Alsace"and"Normandie".Each group is led by around sixty people who are part inmaîtrises(supervisory staffs). Activities follow natural pagan rhythms: theequinox,thesolstice,the gathering ofmistletoe,a camp for the CelticFestival of Samhain,etc.[2]
Members
[edit]Yvan Benedettiwas a member of Europe-Jeunesse in his youth,[4]as were the children ofJean-Yves Le Gallou.[3]
