Forkhead box O6is aproteinthat in humans is encoded by the FOXO6gene.[5]

FoxO6 is expressed in the liver, skeletal muscle, and thehippocampusof the brain.[6]In the liver, FoxO6 normally promotesgluconeogenesisin the fasted state, butinsulinblocks Fox06 upon feeding.[6]In a condition ofinsulin resistanceinsulin fails to block FoxO6 resulting in continued gluconeogenesis even upon feeding.[6]
