Fahrudin Jusufi(Serbian Cyrillic:Фахрудин Јусуфи,pronounced[fahrǔdinjǔsufi];8 December 1939 – 9 August 2019)[1]was a Yugoslavfootballerwho most notably played forPartizan,Eintracht Frankfurtand theYugoslavia national team.[2]
Playing career

[edit]Jusufi was born into anethnic Goranifamily in the village ofZli PotoknearDragash(Vardar Banovina,Kingdom of Yugoslavia,present-dayKosovo). During his career, he played forFK Partizan,Eintracht Frankfurt,Germania WiesbadenandFC Dornbirn,retiring in 1972. He was part of the Partizan squad when they became vice-champions of Europe after losing the1966 European Cup FinalagainstReal Madrid.[3]
International career
[edit]On the national level, Jusufi played forYugoslavia(55 matches),[4]and was a participant at the1962 FIFA World Cupand at the1960 Summer Olympics,where his team won the gold medal.[5]
Coaching career
[edit]After retiring, Jusufi went into coaching, mainly inWest GermanywithSG Wattenscheid 09in thesecond division,but also in1987–88at the helm of Partizan.
He also coachedSchalke 04,1860 Munichand lastlyČelik Zenica.
Personal life and death
[edit]In a 1991 interview for Serbian bi-weeklyTempo,Jusufi was asked if he is "experiencing any problems in regards to the current political situation" and "due to his ethnicity." Jusufi replied, "Why would I be experiencing any problems? I'm aGorani,if that even interests anyone. "[6]
His sonSaschawas also a professional footballer.[7]
Jusufi died on 9 August 2019 at the age of 79 inHamburg,Germany.[8]
