Frenchetteis a restaurant inTribeca,Manhattan,New York City, which opened in April 2018. It won theJames Beard Foundation Award[1]asBest New Restaurantin 2019.[2][3]It is owned bychefsRiad Nasr and Lee Hanson and is named forDavid Johansen's 1978 song "Frenchette".[4]The menu includes a mix of modern and traditional French with dishes like escargots, tortilla espanola and spaghetti with shaved bottarga.[5][6]
Nasr and Hanson worked together since 1997[7]atKeith McNally's restaurants,[8]Balthazar,Pastis andMinetta Tavern,[9]before opening Frenchette.[10]
Pete Wells placed Frenchette in fifty-seventh place in his 2023 ranking of the hundred best restaurants in New York City.[11]
