Glutamate-cysteine ligase regulatory subunitis anenzymethat in humans is encoded by theGCLMgene.[5][6]

Glutamate-cysteine ligase, also known as gamma-glutamylcysteinesynthetase,is the first rate limiting enzyme ofglutathionesynthesis. The enzyme consists of two subunits, a heavycatalytic subunitand a light regulatory subunit. Gamma glutamylcysteine synthetase deficiency has been implicated in some forms ofhemolytic anemia.[6]
