Gastone Moschin(Italian pronunciation:[ɡaˈstoːnemoˈskin];8 June 1929 – 4 September 2017) was an Italian stage, television and film actor.
Career[edit]
Born inSan Giovanni Lupatoto(Veneto), Moschin graduated from theAccademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amicoand then began his career in the 1950s as a theatre actor, first with theTeatro Stabile in Genoaand then with thePiccolo Teatro di MilanoinMilan.In the same period Moschin also began to appear in feature films and on television.[1]
In his film career Moschin alternated character roles and, more rarely, leading roles, such as inSeven Times SevenandCaliber 9.His most famous role is that of Rambaldo Melandri in theAmici mieifilm series (1975–1985).[1]He won twoNastro d'ArgentoAwards forBest Supporting Actor,in 1967 forPietro Germi'sThe Birds, the Bees and the Italiansand in 1986 forNanni Loy'sAmici miei – Atto III.[2]Moschin is also well known for the role ofDon FanucciinFrancis Ford Coppola'sThe Godfather Part II.
Death[edit]
Gastone Moschin was married toMarzia Ubaldisince 1970, he had one daughter (Emanuela Moschin). He died in hospital on 4 September 2017 fromcardiomyopathy.He was 88.[3]
