Georgia Walters(born 6 April 1993) is a Welsh footballer, who plays forBlackburn Roversand theWales national team.She has previously played forSwindon Town,Reading,Tranmere RoversandLiverpool.
Club career
[edit]Walters has played forSwindon Town,initially at youth level,[1]and later at senior level. In 2012, she received a scholarship to play in the US.[2]As of 2015, she was playing forReading,[3]and she later played forTranmere Rovers.[4]
In February 2020, Walters signed forBlackburn Rovers;she made two appearances before the season was cancelled due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.In July 2020, she signed a new contract with Blackburn.[5]In total, she scored three goals in 20 league appearances for the club,[6]and was shortlisted for the club's 2020–21 player of the season award.[7]She left Blackburn at the end of that season,[8]and joinedLiverpoolin September 2021 on a non-contract basis.[9]In January 2022, Walters signed forSheffield Unitedon a contract until the end of the2021–22 season.[10]She played every match for Sheffield United that season, and later signed a new contract with the club prior to the2022–23 season.[11]Walters returned to Blackburn Rovers in August 2023, on a one-year contract.[12]
International career
[edit]In 2015, Walters attended aWales national teamtraining camp.[3]In September 2019, Walters received her first callup to the squad.[4]She made her debut in a 2020 match against theFaroe Islands,[9]coming on as a substitute in the 62nd minute.[13]In 2021, she was included in Wales squads for friendly matches againstCanadaandDenmark,[14]and their October2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualificationmatches.[15]
