Gherardo Starnina
Gherardo Starnina(c. 1360–1413)[1]was an Italian painter fromFlorencein theQuattrocentoera.
According to the biographerGiorgio Vasari,Starnina initially trained withAntonio Veneziano,then withAgnolo Gaddi.He is claimed to have participated in the painting of the frescos in theCastellani ChapelinBasilica di Santa Croce,Florence. He is also said to have moved toSpainin 1380 to work underJuan I of Castile,and is attributed some painting in theSan Blas chapelof theCathedral of Toledo.
Several paintings formerly attributed to theMaster of the Bambino Vispoare now attributed to Gherardo Starnina, and the two artists may have been the same person.[2]
