Ginjer Buchanan(born in Pittsburgh,[1]December 12, 1944) was Editor-in-Chief atAce BooksandRoc Books,the two science fiction and fantasy imprints ofPenguin Group (USA).

Overview[edit]

Buchanan worked at Ace since 1984, was nominated for both theHugo Awardand theWorld Fantasy Award,and won aHugo Award for Best Professional Editorin 2014 for her editing. She was a Guest of Honor atOryConin 2008,[2]Foolscap in 2000,[3]andArmadilloConin 1988, and was Toastmaster at theWorld Fantasy Conventionin 1989.[4]She retired in March 2014.[5]

Buchanan occasionally writes fiction. Her published work includes three short stories in the anthologiesAlternate Kennedys(her story "The End of the Summer by the Great Sea" was included in the anthology),Whatdunnits II,andBy Any Other Fame,all edited byMike Resnick,and also the novelWhite Silence(1999), aHighlandertie-in. Prior to her career in publishing, she was asocial workerand member of thescience fiction fandom.
