Girolamo Donnini(18 April 1681 – 1743) was an Italian painter of theBaroqueperiod, born in the town ofCorreggio, Emilia-Romagna.He was a pupil of the paintersFrancesco StringainModena,and then ofGiovanni Gioseffo dal Solein Bologna, then traveled toForlìto work withCarlo Cignani.

Biography[edit]

He painted anAnnunciationfor the high altar in the church of the Annunziata delle Orfanelle in Turin, aSt Joseph instructed by the angelfor church of the Church ofCorpus Dominiin Bologna, and also a painting for the church of theMadonna di Gallieraalso in Bologna. InPescia,he painted aVisitationfor the church of the Salesians. Another painting on the same topic is found in the church of St. Sebastian inCorreggio.He painted aSt Anthony of Paduafor the church ofSan FrancescoinRimini.He also painted in the church of the Una dell'Ospedale Maggiore ofBergamo.

His pupils includeFrancesco Bosi(Gobbo di Sinibaldo),Benedetto dal Buono(1711-1775),[1]andCarlo Mazza.[2]
