Gje(orDshe) (Ѓ ѓ; italics:Ѓѓ) is a letter of theCyrillic script.
Ѓ is used inMacedonianto represent thevoiced palatal plosive/ɟ/.[1]
Ѓ is most commonly romanised using the Latin letter G withacute⟨ǵ⟩.When theSocialist Republic of Macedoniawas part ofSFR Yugoslavia,the Macedonianѓ(ǵ) was also transliterated asđ,ģ,gj,ordj.
Words with this letter are often cognate withЖд жд(Zhd zhd) inBulgarianandЂ ђ/Đ đinSerbo-Croatian.[2]For example, the Macedonian word forbirth(раѓањеisraǵanje,which in Bulgarian isраждане-razhdane,and inSerbianрађање-rađanje).
