Gordon DunneMBE(4 April 1959 – 20 June 2021) was aDemocratic Unionist Party(DUP) politician who was aMember of the Northern Ireland Assembly(MLA) forNorth Downfrom2011until June 2021.[2]
Biography[edit]
Born inEnniskillen,County Fermanagh,[3]Dunne was first elected toNorth Down Borough Councilin the1981 local electionsrepresenting the Holywood area.[4]He was re-elected in1985and1989.[5]He lost his seat in the1993 local electionsbut regained it in1997and sat on the council since then.[6]He resigned from the assembly effective 9 June 2021 for health reasons, and his sonStephenwas subsequently co-opted to the role.[7][1]
On 20 June 2021, eleven days after his resignation, Dunne died of cancer, aged 62.[8][9][10]
