Released as a double A-side with the Young-written "This Old House", "Got It Made" proved to be the most popular track fromAmerican Dream,reaching number 69 in the US and becoming the group's last single to make the chart.[1]

Despite the lukewarm reception of its parent album, "Got It Made" has received positive reviews from critics.Pasteplaced the song at number 9 in their list of the band's 13 best songs, calling its chorus "instantly catchy" and referring to the song as a standout on the album.[2]
