Greek National Road 4(Greek:Εθνική Οδός 4,abbreviated asEO4) is asingle carriagewayroad in northernGreece.It connectsKozaniwithChalkidona,passing throughVeria.
Route
[edit]The EO4 is officially defined as a link road between theEO1atAlexandreiato the east, and theEO3atKozanito the west, viaVeria,Kastania andPolymylos.[1]TheA2 motorway(Egnatia Odos), which carries theE90,runs parallel to the EO4 for its entire length.[2]
Until theA3 motorwayis connected to the A2, theEuropean route E65includes a small section of the EO4 betweenDrepano andNea Charavgi.[3]
History
[edit]Ministerial Decision G25871 of 9 July 1963 created the EO4 from part of the old EO30 fromAlexandreiatoKozani,which existed by royal decree from 1955–1963.[4][1]Until 1975, the EO4 formed part of the old European route E92.[5]
