Haplogroup CF,also known asCF-P143andCT(xDE),is ahuman Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup.CF is defined by theSNPP143, and its existence and distribution are inferred from the fact that haplogroups descended from CF include most human male lineages inEurasia,Oceania,andThe Americas.CF descends fromCT(CT-M168), and is the sibling ofDE.CF has two basal branches,Haplogroup CandHaplogroup F.[2]

Distribution

There are, as yet, no confirmed cases of living individuals or human remains belonging to thebasal,undivergent haplogroup CF*. In the year 2017, C-M217 (C2) & C-M130 were reported among males belonging to theShan peoples,who are concentrated incentral-east Burma(as well as neighboring parts of China, Laos and Thailand).[3]However, the researchers concerned (Brunelli et al.) did not rule out all other subclades of CF, such as haplogroupF,in these particular cases.[citation needed](In haplogroupF2has previously been identified in the same geographical region.[4])
