Haßfurt(German pronunciation:[ˈhasˌfʊʁt] ;English: Hassfurt) is a town inBavaria,Germany,capital of theHaßbergedistrict. It is situated on the riverMain,20 km east ofSchweinfurtand 30 km northwest ofBamberg.In 1852,Ludwig's Western Railwayreached the town and between 1892 and 1995, which also had abranch linetoHofheim.The 1867 Hassfurt Bridge, thought to be the firstCantilever bridgebuilt, was also there.
