Hermeskeil(German pronunciation:[ˈhɛʁməskaɪl]) is acityin theTrier-Saarburgdistrict, inRhineland-Palatinate,Germany.It is situated in theHunsrück,approx. 25 km southeast ofTrier.Its population is about 5,900.

The old locomotive depot,Bahnbetriebswerk Hermeskeilis now a museum housing German steam engines.
TheFlugausstellung aircraft museumdisplays more than 100 aircraft and is the largest private museum of that kind in Europe.
AGaulishburial of the 1st century AD was discovered in a field near Hermeskeil in 2009.[3]
A Roman castrum has been identified in 2015: it is the only castrum created byJulius CaesarinsideMagna Germania,when he crossed theRhine riverin 53 BC[4]
