Hoca[hoˈd͡ʒɑ],also rendered into English ashodja,is aTurkishword deriving from thePersianwordخواجهkhwāja,khâjeh,used as a title, given name or surname.
As a title,hocameans “master” and is commonly used for teachers, professors, leaders, and in general, wise people. It is also used as a slang word between friends.
