Hope Place(known in Spanish asValle Esperanza) was a small settlement inLafoniainEast Falkland.It was set up in 1846, bySamuel Lafone,a British-bornMontevideomerchant, on the south shores ofBrenton Loch.It was mainly populated byUruguayangauchosbrought in from continentalSouth America.[1]The area is now abandoned.
