Ian Edgintonis a Britishcomic book writer,known for his work on such titles asX-Force,Scarlet Traces,H. G. Wells' The War of the WorldsandLeviathan.

Career

Ian Edginton is known for hissteampunk/alternate historywork (often with the artistD'Israeli) and is the co-creator ofScarlet Traces,a sequel toH. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds,which they later went on to adapt in turn, andThe Great Game,a sequel toScarlet Traces.For2000 ADhe has writtenLeviathan,Sticklebackand, with art bySteve Yeowell,The Red Seasas well as one-off serials such asAmerican Gothic(2005).

Scarlet Traceswas an idea he had when first readingThe War of the Worlds,its first few instalments appeared on Cool Beans website, before being serialised in theJudge Dredd Megazine.Also,The Red Seaswas initially going to be drawn byPhil Winsladeand be the final release byEpic,but Winslade was still tied up withGoddess,and when ideas for replacement artists were rejected, Epic was finally wound up. The series re-emerged when Edginton pitched ideas toMatt Smithat the start of his2000 ADcareer.

With D'Israeli he has created a number of new series includingStickleback,a tale of a strange villain in an alternate Victorian London, andGothic,which he describes as "Mary Shelley's Doc Savage". With Simon Davis he worked on a survival horror series,Stone Island,and he has also produced a comic version of the computer gameHellgate: LondonwithSteve Pugh.

WithDan Abnetthe is writing comics based onWarhammer 40,000(Damnation CrusadeandBlood and Thunder)[1]andWarhammer(Forge of War) forBoom! Studios.The most recent is a Warhammer Fantasy series calledCondemned by Fire.[dead link][2]

He is currently working on a dinosaurs and cowboys story calledSixgun Logic.As part ofTop Cow'sPilot Seasonhe has written anAngelusone-shot.[3]he also contributed toDays MissingatArchaia Studios Press.[4]

Following the "World's End"storyline, Edginton took over the writing ofStormwatch: Post Human Divisionfrom issue #13[5][6]and also at Wildstorm he createdVictorian Undeada series which mixes Sherlock Holmes with zombies.[7]He has also writtenAladdin: Legacy of the LostatRadical Comics.[8][9][10]
