Indrastra(Sanskrit:इन्द्रास्त्र,romanized:Indrāstra) is theastra(celestial weapon) of theHindudeityIndra.The astra is featured inHindu textssuch as theRamayanaand theMahabharata.

Mahabharata[edit]

In the Mahabharata, Indra offers the Indrastra toArjuna.[1]

On the fourteenth day of theKurukshetra War,whenArjunawanted to kill KingJayadratha,DronaandDuryodhanasent their men to stopArjuna.One of these was KingSudakshina,who threw his spear atArjuna,striking him and causing his blood to flow. Even as theKauravasbelieved him to be dead, Arjuna launched the Indrastra, killing KingSudakshinaand a large part of his army.[citation needed]

On the seventeenth day of the war,Arjunashot his Indrastra on the Samsaptakas, killing many of them.[citation needed]

Ramayana[edit]

In the Ramayana,Lakshmanaemploys the Indrastra to killIndrajita,the son ofRavana.[2]
