Ingrid Godon(born 29 August 1958) is aFlemishillustrator of children's literature.

Career[edit]

She won thePrijs van de Kinder- en Jeugdjury voor het boek in Vlaanderenin 1988 and in 1989 for respectively illustrating the booksPius en PepijnandNiemand mag het wetenwritten byGerda van Cleemput.She also won the award in 1988 for illustrating the bookMijn broer is een punkerbyMaria Heylen.[1]

In 2001, Godon andAndré Solliewon theGouden Griffelaward for their bookWachten op Matroos(2000).[2]She also won aVlag en Wimpelaward for her illustrations in the book.[2]In Flanders the book was awarded theBoekenpauwandBoekenwelpawards.[2][3][4]The English translation of the bookHello, Sailorwas published in 2003. The book caused controversy in England as it was argued that its inclusion in school curricula effectively forced schools to include books with homosexual characters.

She also received a Boekenpauw award in 2015 for her illustrations in the bookIk denkwritten byToon Tellegen.[4]In 2009, she received aBoekenpluimaward for illustrating the bookMorgen was het feest,also written by Toon Tellegen.

Over the years Godon has illustrated over a hundred children's books for numerous authors.[2]
