Invest Hong Kong(Chinese:Đầu tư mở rộng thự) is the department of theHong Kong SAR Governmentresponsible forForeign Direct Investment,supporting overseas businesses to set up and expand inHong Kong.Founded on 1 July 2000, its first Director General wasMichael Rowse.
The Investment Officers are organized into nine specialist sector teams covering Hong Kong's four pillar industries and six new growth sectors: Business & Professional Services, Consumer Products, Creative Industries, Financial Services, FinTech, Information & Communications Technology, Innovation & Technology, Tourism & Transport, and hospitality, Infrastructure & Advanced Manufacturing.[citation needed]
Invest HK is headed by theDirector-General of Investment Promotionwho reports to theSecretary for Commerce and Economic Development.[citation needed]

[edit]The current Director-General of Investment Promotion is Alpha Lau (Chinese: Lưu chiến thắng trở về ).[1]
Stephen Phillips
[edit]The former Director-General of Investment Promotion was Stephen Phillips.[2]In August 2022, Phillips went to Australia and New Zealand to market Hong Kong's business attractions.[2]In November 2022, despite the 0+3 restrictions for inbound travelers, Phillips said that "Hong Kong is well and truly back open for business."[3]
In March 2022, Phillips claimed that theNational Security Lawwas not a big concern for companies while investing in Hong Kong.[4]

[edit]Hong Kong FinTech Week is an internationalfintechevent, organized by Investhk; It is held in Hong Kong (andShenzhen).[5]
Hong Kong FinTech Week brings together fintech communities from the East and the West that seek to expand their businesses to Hong Kong, mainland China and theAsia-Pacificregion.[5]
Gay Games
[edit]In September 2023,SCMPreported that although Invest HK was a sponsor of the2023 Gay Games,it had not provided support to the event.[6]
