Iona ThomasOBE,is a British diplomat who serves as theBritish High Commissioner to New Zealandand theGovernor of Pitcairn.

Thomas did a bachelor’s inliterae humanioresatOxford Universityand a master's in economics at theLondon School of Economics.[2]

In August 2022, Thomas took up the position of British High Commissioner to New Zealand, succeedingLaura Clarke.[3]She was Political Counsellor at the British High Commission inPakistanand has served in diplomatic posts inTripoliand at theUnited Nationsin New York. Before joining theForeign and Commonwealth Office,she held posts in the civil service.[2]

In June 2018, Thomas was appointed anOfficer of the Order of the British Empirefor services to British foreign policy.[4]
