Ishbak

Ishbak(Hebrew:יִשְׁבָּ֣קYīšbāq,"he will leave; leaving" ), also spelledJisbak[1]andJosabak,[2]was, according to theBible,the fifth son ofAbrahamandKeturah.[3][4]Ishbak had five brothers,Zimran,Jokshan,Medan,MidianandShuah.[5]

Josephus tells us that "Abraham contrived to settle them in colonies; and they took possession ofTroglodytisand the country ofArabia the Happy,as far as it reaches to theRed Sea."[6]Little else is known about him, but his descendants may be the people identified in a cuneiform inscription to a people known asJasbuqu.[7][neutralityisdisputed]
