Iwao Matsuda(Tùng điền nham phu,Matsuda Iwao,19 May 1937 – 3 February 2022)was a Japanese politician of theLiberal Democratic Partywho was a member of theHouse of Councillorsin theDiet(national legislature). A native ofGifu, Gifu,Japan,and graduate of theUniversity of Tokyo,he joined theMinistry of International Trade and Industryin 1960, attending theUniversity of Londonwhile in the ministry. Leaving the ministry in 1981, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1986. After losing his seat in 1996, he was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 1998. Matsuda died fromhypoglycemiaon 3 February 2022, at the age of 84.[1]
