James Hiroyuki Liao(born February 6, 1976) is an American actor. Liao is known for his television roles asRoland Glennin theFoxserial dramaPrison Break(2008); Jay Lee in theCBS,and laterA&E,police procedural seriesUnforgettable(2013–2016); and Albert Nguyen in theHBOblack comedy seriesBarry(2019–2023).
Liao providedvoice actingandmotion-capture actingfor the role of Kenji in the video gameGhost of Tsushima(2020).
Early life, family and education[edit]
Liao was born on February 6, 1976, inBensonhurst,Brooklyn,New York City,New York.His father isTaiwanese,and his mother isJapanese.[1]
He attendedgraduate schoolat theJuilliard School's drama division, finishing in 2004. He studied at the Marjorie Ballentine Studio, where he befriendedAmaury Nolasco(they would later perform together in the TV seriesPrison Breakduring its fourth season).[2]
Career[edit]
Liao playedRoland Glennin season four ofPrison Break.He starred in other television roles, such as24,CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,Bones,CSI: MiamiandLaw & Order.He was a recurring character in the TV seriesBarry.He also starred withJennifer Anistonin the feature filmManagement.[1]
His stage work includes playing Song Liling (Butterfly) in Washington DC'sArena Stageproduction ofM. Butterfly.[3]
