Jan Montyn

Jan Montyn(13 November 1924 – 10 August 2015) was a Dutch artist, specialized inetching.He was best known for his paintings of wars to which he had been an eyewitness.[1]

Montyn was born in a conservativeCalvinisticfamily and was raised inOudewater.In the Second World War he joined theGerman navyand fought on the eastern front. After the war he lived inFranceand in theNetherlands.His work is displayed in theBibliothèque Nationalein Paris, theMuseum of Modern ArtinNew York Cityand theMuseum Boijmans Van BeuningeninRotterdam.

Montyn died on 10 August 2015 inAmsterdam,aged 90.[2]
