Jaroslav Krejčí(27 June 1892 – 18 May 1956) was a CzechlawyerandNazi collaborator.He served as theprime ministerof theProtectorate of Bohemia and Moraviafrom 28 September 1941 to 19 January 1945.

Biography

Krejčí was born on 27 June 1892 inKřemenec,Moravia, Austria-Hungary. After graduating from the Faculty of Law atCharles Universityin 1915, he worked in thecivil servicein various positions. During the 1930s, he also lectured onconstitutional lawatMasaryk University(from 1938 as a professor).

From 12 December 1938 to 3 March 1939, he was minister of justice inRudolf Beran's government of theCzechoslovak Second Republicand head of the CzechoslovakConstitutional Court.He served asminister of justicein allProtectorate of Bohemia and Moraviagovernments, and temporarily he was alsominister of agriculture.From 28 September 1941 to 19 January 1945 he was prime minister, replacingAlois Eliáš,who had supported theunderground resistance to the Nazisand was executed. Krejčí was a close friend of PresidentEmil Hácha.Krejčí and his government fully cooperated with the Germans. The most infamous member of his government wasEmanuel Moravec,a symbol ofCzech collaborationwith the Nazis. After the war, Krejčí was sentenced to a 25-year prison term and subsequently died while in prison.

Wolf Grunerwrote that Krejčí "enthusiastically paid homage to Nazi rule."[1]: 106 

His son,Jaroslav Krejčí(1916–2014), was a Czech lawyer,sociologist,and professor atLancaster Universityin theUnited Kingdom.[2]
