Jeena Shin(born 1973) is a New Zealandpainter.Her work is geometric in style, and oftenmonochromatic.Many of her projects are large scale and painted directly on the walls of public galleries.
Early life and education
[edit]Shin was born inSeoul,South Korea.Shin received aBachelor of Fine Artsfrom theUniversity of Aucklandin 1997 and aMasters of Fine ArtsfromRMIT University, Melbournein 2000.[1]In 2011 she participated in the 'International Residency Exchange Programs' at the Art Studio of theNational Museum of Modern and Contemporary Artin South Korea.[2]
Shin is resident inAuckland,New Zealand.
Exhibitions
[edit]In 2016 she was included in the exhibitionNecessary Distraction: A Painting ShowatAuckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.[3]Notable exhibitions at Two Rooms (Auckland) have includedReflection Reflection(2012),Motus(2014), andOver Under Sideways Down(2015–6 withSelina FooteandJan van de Ploeg).[4]In 2009, she was commissioned to create a large-scale wall painting 23 metres (75 ft) x 7 metres (23 ft) atDunedin Public Art Gallery.[5]
Awards
