Jefferson R. Moss(born July 4, 1976) is an American entrepreneur and politician who has served in theUtah House of Representativesfrom the 51st district.[1][2]He currently serves as the majority leader in the House, a position he has held since November 15, 2023 when his predecessor in that office,Mike Schultzbecame the House Speaker.[3]He previously served as majority whip, also succeeding Schultz.[4]

Early life and education

Moss is a native ofOrem, Utah.He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science fromBrigham Young Universityand aMaster of Business Administrationin entrepreneurship and finance from theMarriott School of Businessat BYU.[5]

Career

Jefferson Moss is the associate vice president and foundation COO atUtah Valley University.He is also a member of theUtah State Board of Education.He formerly worked as a wealth management advisor atCredit Suisseand as a wealth advisor atKeyBank.

Moss serves as House majority leader. He is a member of the Executive Appropriations Committee, Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee, House Business and Labor Committee, and the Legislative Management Committee.[6]

Personal life

Moss resides inSaratoga Springs, Utah,with his wife and four children.[7]
