TheJerry Rice Awardis awarded annually in the United States to the most outstanding freshman player in theNCAA Division IFootball Championship Subdivision (FCS) ofcollege footballas chosen by a nationwide panel of media and college sports information directors.[1]

The trophy is named in honor ofNational Football League(NFL)hall of famewide receiverJerry Rice,who starred atMississippi Valley State University.
