Jesse Roth

Jesse Roth(born August 5, 1934) is an Americanphysicianandendocrinologist,currently atThe Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.He received his BA in 1955 fromColumbia University,his MD in 1959 fromAlbert Einstein College of Medicine.He completed a residency ininternal medicineatBarnes-Jewish Hospital(Washington University School of Medicine,St. Louis) in 1961, and a fellowship inendocrinologyatBronx Veterans Administration Medical Centerin 1963.[1] Beginning with his fellowship work withSolomon BersonandRosalyn Yalow,Jesse Roth's research career focused oninsulinaction. His laboratory at theNational Institutes of Healthelucidated much of what we know of the structure of theinsulin receptorand intracellular mechanisms of insulin action. Jesse Roth is a fellow of theAmerican College of Physiciansand was a recipient of the 1980Gairdner Foundation International Award[2]and in 1982 he received theAmerican Diabetes Association's Banting Medal for Scientific Achievement.[3]
