James Angus Dodds(7 September 1914 – 26 January 1942) was a Northern Irish professionalfootballerwho played as awingerin theFootball LeagueforFulhamandGillingham.[1]

Personal life[edit]

Dodds served as aflight sergeantin theRoyal Air Force Volunteer Reserveduring theSecond World War.[2]He wasmentioned in despatchestwice during his service.[4][5]Dodds waskilledon 26 January 1942 aboardLockheed HudsonAE602when it was shot down byJapaneseKi-27fighters during theBattle of Singapore.[2][4][6][7]The bomber had been returning to base after conducting a raid on Japanese ships landing atEndau.[6]Dodds is commemorated on theKranji War Memorial.[2]
