John Cregan(born 21 May 1961) is an Irish formerFianna Fáilpolitician who served as aTeachta Dála(TD) for theLimerick Westconstituency from 2002 to 2011 and aSenatorfor theLabour Panelfrom 1998 to 2011.[1]

He is fromDromcolliher,County Limerick.

On 23 June 1998, Cregan was elected to the21st Seanadas a Senator for theLabour Panel,at a by-election to fill the seat vacated by theLabour PartySenatorSeán Ryan,who had been elected toDáil Éireannat a by-election.[1]

Cregan was elected to Dáil Éireann at the2002 general electionas a Fianna Fáil TD for theLimerick Westconstituency and was re-elected at the2007 general election.[2]

On 1 February 2011, Cregan announced that he would not be a candidate at the imminentgeneral electionfollowing disagreement with the new leader of Fianna Fáil,Micheál Martin.[3]

He currently serves as chairman of Limerick GAA County Board.
