John Hendrix Baker, III(born March 15, 1941) is an American former professionalfootballlinebackerandtight end.He playedcollege footballatMississippi State University,where he was a linebacker and anoffensive end.He played in theAmerican Football League(AFL) for theHouston Oilersfrom 1963 through 1966 and theSan Diego Chargersin 1967.

Baker married Carla Swanson, a member of theSwansonTV dinnersfamily, on June 22, 1968, atKountze Memorial Lutheran ChurchinOmaha, Nebraska.[2]He has a daughter named Cara and three sons: Jason, Jacob, and Joshua. Joshua pitched in theCollege World Seriesfor theRice Owls.Baker is the father-in-law ofMajor League BaseballplayerLance Berkman.
