Jon Brittain

Jon Brittain(born May 1987) is an Olivier Award-winning playwright, comedy writer and director who was born inChesterin the northwest of England and grew up in theNetherlands.[1]

He graduated from theUniversity of East Angliawith a BA in 2008.[2]

His playRotterdamreceived its world premiere atTheatre503in October 2015[3]and subsequently received an Off West End Award nomination for Best New Play.[4]In 2017, the play won anOlivier Awardfor Outstanding Achievement In An Affiliate Theatre.[5]He was also nominated for the Evening Standard's Charles Wintour Award for the Most Promising Playwright.[6]Previously, he co-wrote and directed the hit showMargaret Thatcher Queen of Soho,starring Matt Tedford.[7]He also directed stand-up comedianJohn Kearns'sFosters' Award winning showsSight Gags for PervertsandShtick.[8]Jon also directedTom Allen,Tom Rosenthal,Mat EwinsandRichard Gaddwho wonEdinburgh Festival FringeandScotsman Fringe First Awardfor New Writing based on his playBaby Reindeer.In television, he was a writer during season 2 ofThe Amazing World of Gumball,Netflix’sThe Crownand has created and starred in HodgePodge.[6]
