Josephine Koo Mei-WahorGu Meihua(Chinese:Cố mỹ hoa) is aChinesefilm actress. She had a bright start to her film career, starring inYim Ho'sHong Kong New WaveclassicHomecoming(1984). The film won her the Best New Performer Award at theHong Kong Film Awardsin 1985, and also a nomination for Best Actress, but she was beaten bySiqin Gaowafrom the same film.[1]

AfterHomecoming,Koo appeared in Yim Ho'sRed Dust(1990),Stanley Kwan'sFull Moon in New York(1990) andEvans Chan'sTo Live(e)(1992).

She disappeared from the screen in the late 1990s but suddenly returned inPeng Xiaolian'sShanghai Story(2004). For her role in this film, Koo was awarded the Best Actress Award at theShanghai International Film Festival,beating outZhang ZiyiandJoey Wong.
