The station is one of the pioneers in theadult album alternativeformat, but co-owner and AOR pioneer Tom Yates prefersadult rock.

The Coast won theNational Association of BroadcastersMarconi Awardas "Rock Station Of The Year" in 2002 and has been nominated for four other Marconis. The Coast has also received threeCrystal Awardsfor community service.
