KRVE(96.1FM) is ancommercialradio stationlicensedtoBrusly, Louisiana,and serving theBaton Rouge metropolitan area.It broadcasts anadult contemporaryradio format,switching toChristmas musicfor much of November and December. KRVE is owned byiHeartMedia, Inc.with itsradio studiosand offices located east of downtown Baton Rouge near theI-10/I-12interchange. It is known as "96.1 The River."

KRVE has aneffective radiated power(ERP) of 50,000watts.Thetransmitteris on Frenchtown Road inCentral, Louisiana.[2]KRVE broadcasts usingHD Radiotechnology. The HD2digital subchannelcarries aworship musicformat known as "Air1."That feeds 99 wattFM translatorW266CDat 101.1 MHz inBaton Rouge.[3]

KRVE is theflagship stationfor thenationally syndicatedmorningdrive timeshow"Murphy, Sam and Jodi".[4]On weeknights, it also carries the syndicated call-in and request show"Delilah".Both shows are distributed by co-ownedPremiere Networks.

History

The station was originally at 96.3, and was assigned the call letters KIEZ on August 18, 1989. On September 9, 1989, it officiallysigned onthe air.[5]As thecall signindicated, it had aneasy listeningformat and was owned by McForhun, Inc. The studios were on Hatchell Lane inDenham Springs.

On July 15, 1991, the station changed its call sign to the current KRVE.[6]In addition, it moved to 96.1 that year. The KRVE call letters were previously owned by a Portuguese language FM radio station (nowcontemporary ChristianstationKJLV) inSan Jose, California.
