KarakucakorKarakucak Güreşiis one of the twoTurkish folk wrestling stylespractised nationwide and sanctioned by the Turkish Wrestling Federation.[1]Like all otherTurkish folk wrestling styles,karakucak competitions are held on grass fields. Competitors wear baggy trousers (şalvar) or special trousers namedpırpıtmade ofcanvasor other similarly sturdy fabric.[2][3][4]Oiling the bodies and/or garments is strictly prohibited.[3] Apart from this, Karakucak rules resembleTurkish oil wrestlingrules. Among several local styles,Köprülü karakucakpractised mainly inÇukurovahas rules almost identical withOlympic freestyle wrestling.[4]
