Karen McKevittis an IrishSocial Democratic and Labour Party(SDLP) politician who served as aMember of the Northern Ireland Assembly(MLA) forSouth Downfrom2011to2016.[1]

Political career[edit]

McKevitt entered politics in 2005 when she was elected toNewry and Mournecouncil, topping the poll in the Crotlieve electoral area.[2]

She stood in theNewry and Armaghconstituency in the2016 Assembly election,getting 3,923 first preference votes, but failed to win a seat.[3]

McKevitt was elected to the Crotlieve DEA onNewry, Mourne and Down District Councilat the2019 local government election.

She was selected to run for theSDLPin the2022 Northern Ireland Assembly electionin her former constituency of South Down alongsideColin McGrath,but was not elected.[4]
