Keith Brynmor Jones(born 27 June 1944) is a retiredChurch of Englandpriest. He was theDean of Exeterfrom 1996 to 2004, and theDean of Yorkfrom 2004 until his retirement in 2012.

Early life and education

Jones was born on 27 June 1944 inShrewsbury,England.[1]He received his secondary education atLudlow Grammar SchoolinShropshire.He studied English literature atSelwyn College, Cambridge,graduating with aBachelor of Arts(BA) degree in 1965: as per tradition, his BA was promoted to aMaster of Arts(MA Cantab) degree.[2]From 1967 to 1969, he trained forholy Ordersand studied theology atCuddesdon College,anAnglo-Catholictheological collegenear Oxford.[3]

Ordained ministry

Jones was ordained atSouthwark Cathedraland served acuracyin the parish of Limpsfield with Titsey,Surrey.In 1982 he was appointed vicar ofSt Mary-le-Tower,Ipswich in 1982, a position he held until 1995.[4]He served his first cathedral position as Priest-Vicar atSt Albans Cathedraland was appointed the Rural Dean ofIpswichin 1992. He was anHonorary CanonofSt Edmundsbury Cathedralbetween 1993 and 1995.[1]

He was appointedDean of Exeterin 1996.[5]He was installed asDean of Yorkin June 2004.[6]He retired from full-time ministry on 30 April 2012.[7]In 2013, he was grantedpermission to officiatein theDiocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.[3]Since retirement he has served as an Associate Minister, atSt Margaret's Church, Ipswich.[4]

Jones is married to Viola, a lecturer inChristianityandart,with whom he has three daughters: Sophie, Olivia and Isabel.[1]
