Kentucky Flatis a former settlement inNevada County, California.Dating to 1850, it was first mined by settlers from theU.S. stateofKentucky.Several valuablequartzleads were discovered in the area, and thediggingswere worked with significant profit.[1]In that year, it was considered to be a settlement of some importance.[2]The Kentucky Flat Schoolhouse might be the "oldest continuously used one-room schoolhouse inCalifornia".[3]
