Khanaqin District(Arabic:قضاء خانقين,Kurdish:قەزای خانەقین/Qezay Xaneqîn)[3]is a district inDiyala Governorate,Iraq.The district is a part of theDisputed territories of Northern Iraq.[4]
TheAlwand Riverruns through Khanaqin District before joining theDiyala River.
The district population was estimated to be 175,000 in 2003.[1]The population of the Judicial Center increased from 20,000 in 2003 to more than 160,000 in 2011.[5]
