Khanon i(Burmese:ခနုံအီ;pronounced[kʰənòʊɴʔì];also speltkhanon e) is a traditional Burmesesnackormont.The wordkhanoncomes fromThaikhanom(lit. 'dessert'). The snack is essentially a patty of steamedglutinous riceandpeanut oil,garnished withcoconutshavings.

Khanon i originates inUpper Myanmar,where it is considered a royal delicacy, along withkhanon htok.[1]A series ofBurmese–Siamese warsbeginning withHsinbyushin's reign resulted in the emergence of Thai-inspired delicacies, including khanon htok,shwe yin aye,andmont let hsaung.[2]
