LGBTQ Nationis an American onlinenews magazineheadquartered inSan Francisco,California.It was founded in 2009 and is currently owned byQ.Digital.The website is primarily marketed to thelesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community.Through its parent company, it is affiliated with three other sites:Queerty,GayCities,andINTO.

LGBTQ Nationwas founded in 2009.[2]It reports on topics that are relevant to the LGBTQ community, and the site is headquartered in San Francisco.[3][4][5]It is owned byQ.Digital,as are its sister companies,Queerty,GayCities,andINTO.[6][7][8]As of 2017, the website had 1.2 million followers onFacebook.[9]Q.Digitalsays that LGBTQ Nation is "the most visited LGBTQ news site in the US".[10]In 2021,LGBTQ Nationwas nominated for the32nd GLAAD Media Awards.[11][12]

Milo Yiannopolouswas named LGBTQ Nation's "2016 Person of the Year" due to a reader driven poll. LGBTQ Nation, theAnti-Defamation League,andVocativsaid that Yiannopolous's supporters had posted about the poll on sites such asRedditand4chan,and thatBreitbart Newsran stories about the poll.[13][14][15]At Yiannopolous's request, the editors of LGBTQ Nation removed a reference to him as "alt right".The decisions to nominate and interview Yiannopolous, as well as to remove the reference to him as" alt right ", drew some backlash from the site's readers.[3][16]

The website covers the subjects ofLGBT pride,health,life, and politics.[17]It provided coverage of the2020 United States presidential election,including exclusive coverage of presidential candidates. This included anop-edon the site written byKamala Harris.[18][19]Commentary byJoe Bidenwas also published in the outlet.[20][21]Interviews were held withPete ButtigiegandAndrew Yang.[22][23]During the2020 Democratic presidential primaries,LGBTQ Nationpublished analysis of each candidate's background concerningLGBT rights.[24][25]

Interviews with people of interest to the LGBT community have been published to the website. This included interviews with LGBTlawmakersand candidates such asDanica Roem,Mondaire Jones,Taylor Small,Sarah McBride,andSharice Davids.[26][27][28][29][30]LGBTQ Nationalso held an interview with Gerald Bostock, one of the plaintiffs in the landmarkBostock v. Clayton Countyruling.[31]

LGBTQ Nation has provided international news coverage, especially concerning stories pertaining to LGBT topics.[32][33][34]During the 2020 US presidential election, it had correspondents across the world.[35]The site has published pieces related toLGBT history,including about theGay Liberation Front,theStonewall uprising,andpre-Stonewall LGBT activity.[36][37]
