Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 6 is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theLGR6 gene .[ 5] [ 6] G-protein coupled receptors LGR4 andLGR5 ,LGR6 is aWnt signaling pathway mediator.LGR6 also acts as an epithelial stem cell marker insquamous cell carcinoma in micein vivo. [ 7]
This gene encodes a member of theleucine-rich repeat -containing subgroup of the G protein-coupled 7-transmembrane protein superfamily. The encoded protein is aglycoprotein hormone receptor with a largeN-terminal extracellular domain that contains leucine-rich repeats important for the formation of a horseshoe-shaped interaction motif forligand binding. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multipletranscript variants .[ 6]
