Background

First proposed during theJohn F. Kennedyadministrationin 1962 as theHall of Fame,[2]the Hall of Honor was opened in 1988.[3]Honorees are selected each year by a panel inside the Department of Labor. All have been recognizedposthumouslywith the lone exception of 2012 inducteeDolores Huerta.
